About Me
- Name: John Beder
- Location: Vancouver Island, Canada
My paintings are inspired by the way natural light reveals the shape, colour and texture of each subject. Realist painting is as much about the role imagination plays in perception as it is about the careful scrutiny and depiction of "reality." We all conceive and construct what we think is real. It's the individual interpretation that makes realist painting so fascinating.

John, I really like your work, they all have a beautiful light.
Your paintings are full of beautifully observed light and color, coupled with a spare and exceptional sense of design. I love the still lives with striped paper on your main site too.
